Cairo
is a city full of wonderful Islamic sites both old and new. This tour
will take you to see the main Islamic sites of Cairo.
We
will start off by first visiting the Citadel Of Salah El Din. This is a
complex that includes the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali, The
Military Museum, and the Citadel Outdoor Theatre. The Citadel was built
between the years of 1176 and 1182 AD.
The
next stop will be Al Azhar Mosque. This mosque is the oldest Islamic
university in the world and was founded in 972 AD. It was the very first
Fatimad mosque.
The
last stop of the day will be the
Museum
of Islamic Art. This Museum contains architectural pieces that date back
to the dawn of Islam all the way to the Ottoman period. It is the
largest Islamic Museum in the Middle East. |
