Alexandria
used to be the capital of Greco Roman Egypt and a Greek cultural center.
This tour of Alexandria will be a brief one that covers those main
landmarks.
At the
Greco
Roman Museum you will witness relics that were revived from the 3rd
century B.C for a span of 5 years.
The
next stop will be the Pillar of Pompey, which is made out of red granite
and is 25 meters in height, and stands between the ruins of the Serapis
Temple. At this site you will also see two pink granite sphinxes.
While
visiting the Roman Amphitheatre you will see the 12 rows of marble seats
that form a semicircle and used to hold up to 800 spectators. This site
dates back to the 2nd century.
The
next stop is the spectacular
Montazah Gardens. At the 370 acre enclosed gardens, you will witness the
splendor that used to be the summer home of the King Farouk. The gardens
are located right on the beachfront and the view is breathtaking.
